Request infoHave you always wanted to play in a band? Or does your child love the idea of drumming, playing the guitar or bass, or singing the music they love? Join Soundcheck Live!, the East Coast’s most exciting rock band program.
You’ll get 1-hour weekly band rehearsals, plus access to our facility for additional practice. We group 4-5 students per band, and we choose bands based on age, ability, musical taste, and personality. Kids will be in a band with other kids, teens with teens, and adults with adults. You can also take private lessons with our professional team of musicians, and you’ll get to perform live with your band for friends and family.
About Us
Bands for Kids & Teens
Kids starting at age six can join our amazing band program. Your child will be grouped with other students of similar skill level, age, and musical preferences, and each weekly rehearsal will be led by an experienced teacher. Young drummers, guitarists, singers and bassists love playing real music every week – and some even bring songs they write in our songwriting program.
Rock Bands for Adults
Never give up on your dreams. The adults in our band program range from beginners to advanced musicians, and they all love the experience. Play the Beatles, Rush, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and more – make music you enjoy with other musicians who may even become lifelong friends.

Experienced Rock Band Teachers
The staff at Soundcheck Rock Academy in Columbia, MD not only includes active performers, but professional songwriters and session musicians as well. With international artists that have performed as far away as Mexico, Canada, India, Germany, and Europe.
Your Instructors are real professional musicians with real life experience in local and national touring bands. Some also have music and music education degrees. They take their talents and give back to the community. These musicians are here to help you. They are able to take some of the difficulty of learning to play an instrument, play in a band, and are here to guide you to becoming a well rounded musician. They love it. And you inspire them as much as they inspire you.
Our Band Program Philosophy
You will learn how to play your instrument at a high level, but you’ll also make friends and play music that you genuinely love. Many of our band program members keep playing together for years. Our students have more fun at Soundcheck than in other music programs, and they still learn rhythm, theory, songwriting, performance skills and more. You’re joining a community – not just taking lessons.
